It seems a bit of science fiction, but evidently there is more science than fiction behind the storyComing Soon: Yell At Your Phone To Charge It I suppose that if you have children who misbehave all the time this would be wonderful way to recharge your cell phone during your normal routine.
What struck me about the story was that earlier in the week it was noted in an article I read that FEMA previously would set up phone banks following a disaster for disaster survivors to use. Now they are setting up cell phone charging stations instead. We've see the pictures from Haiti and Egypt of one outlet and a gazillion cell phone chargers plugged into it via extension cords, etc.
In reality these are not cell phones. They are mobile computing platforms (if you have a smart phone) that provides a entirely different level of connectivity and capability than just a phone.
Innovation is not stopping, so hopefully the new "Charge by Shouting" phone will have a decibel meter on it so that you can see how you are doing on charging the phone by measuring loudness of your voice. :)
