Improving Visual Studio 2010 Performance on Win XP


In our case the issues were traced back to issues with the Graphics Card and or some other display issue.  The recommendation was to turn off hardware acceleration support for Visual Studio.  This can be done via "Tools -> Options", see the below screen capture, simply remove the "
VS Settings
Once I made this change I noticed a few things.  First was that I have been running this way for upwards of 8 days without a single crash.  The second is that the overall performance of Visual Studio is better, it is more responsive and locks up less.
I hope this is helpful to any of you running Windows XP and experiencing performance issues with Visual Studio.
