Virus Warning: New Adobe Flash Player upgrade --- is a virus!
A new virus that is affecting Firefox and Internet Explorer users is running rampant around the internet and the reason why is that it comes across, or masks itself, as being a *new* Adobe Flash Player upgrade and/or plugin.

This virus / malware is VERY dangerous. Versions are Trojan.Tracur.C (IE version) and Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY (Firefox version). This fake plugin spies on the unsuspecting user and records any and all data within Internet Explorer (Credit Card Information, Banking Information, Usernames / Passwords, etc), as well as it records any activity when you do a search on a search engine and inserts malicious code into the top results, hence directing you to corrupted websites loaded with even more viruses, malware, spyware, etc.

How to keep yourself protected

  • Ensure your Anti-Malware software is up-to-date
  • Ensure your Anti-Virus software is up-to-date
If you have become infected
First, stop using your computer! It is best to shut off your computer as well as to unplug the internet from the computer until you can have a full system scan completed (by a professional is best, especially if you do not have a second computer to pull updated virus/malware removal tools from). Shutting off your computer will help in not allowing the virus to go deeper into the system. The deeper it goes, the harder it is to safely remove it without having to do a full reinstall.

Secondly, contact your bank(s) and advise them that you were infected with a virus that steals credit card and banking information. They will have a team help you change all your account numbers, issue new cards, etc.
